Project Location: Dublin
Architect: CBRE
Flooring Contractor: FloorForm

Project Overview

The client sought to create a modern, engaging, and comfortable office space to encourage their tech-savvy staff to work from the office. The goal was to provide a dynamic and inspiring environment that enhances productivity and well-being.

Location & Inspiration

Situated on the top floor of a prominent building in Dublin city centre, the office space offers a panoramic view of the city. This vantage point served as the primary inspiration for the interior design, drawing from the forms, finishes, and history of the Dublin skyline.

Design Concept & Material Influence

The design references the angular shapes and materials seen in Dublin’s rooftops and structures, including copper, stone, and brick. These elements influenced the choice of flooring, playing a key role in translating the city’s essence into the interior.

Flooring Selection & Installation

Open Plan Areas

  • The ‘New Path’ Upbeat and Positive products were chosen for open-plan spaces.
  • The herringbone pattern within the texture of the tiles echoes the timber herringbone flooring found in Dublin’s period buildings.
  • The selected colour palette was influenced by the verdigris tones of the city’s copper roofs.

Circulation & Canteen Spaces

  • Loose lay Nordic  LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) products in stone and wood effects were used.
  • These selections provide durability while defining different zones within the office.

Meeting & Collaboration Spaces

  • Honest, Identity, and Familiar products from the Haven collection were installed.
  • The angular and dynamic patterns within these products reflect the cityscape’s forms and hues.

Collaboration

Dean Hutchinson, our flooring sales manager, worked directly with the architect, Patrick Wilding from CBRE, and the team at FloorForm to ensure the project’s successful execution. The collaboration between all parties ensured that the flooring was installed efficiently and to the highest standard, without any major delays.

Sustainability & Practicality Considerations

  • The project required a quick turnaround, making product availability a key factor.
  • Flooring from Shaw Contract, manufactured in Scotland, was chosen due to its close proximity to Ireland.
  • The Magtab installation product was used, further supporting the project’s sustainability objectives, a significant consideration for the client.

Conclusion

This office design successfully integrates Dublin’s architectural history and skyline into a contemporary workspace, offering employees a stimulating and comfortable environment. The thoughtful flooring selections not only enhance aesthetics but also support functionality and sustainability.
